adb command not found error ,if i give the command adb in terminal( linux)

1. I have set the path: export PATH=$PATH:~/android-sdks/platform-tools
2. Done: gksudo gedit ~/.profile
3. Installed: sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Even then i am getting: adb: command not found please help me out to fix this
