Recipe Apps in Kivy

I am new to programming and kivy. I have been learning python, kivy, pygame through books and youtube videos.As a small project for myself want to make a recipe apps in kivy. The apps basically will have hundreds of recipe differentiated into various segments. This is just on my head and i know what are the things that i need in my apps. Once the user downloads the apps, all the recipe get downloaded as well. But if the new recipe is updated and when the user is online, the apps gets updated with the newly updated recipe as well.

Ok, here is my problem, I have only done small game programming till date. 1. Where should I start 2.how will I make a link between my program and all the recipes

Do I need to learn how to link my program and database like sqlite or any other.

Please do advice me...
