Get value from SQLite database:

I'm a very unexperienced programmer, so please forgive me, but i have searched the web far and wide, and come up with nothing.

I have a java program in which i use a SQLite database. I simply need to get the value stored in a specific column and row and convert it to a string variable.

Can someone please give me a very simple and generel way of doing this? I imagine it to be something like "get Name where ID=4".
