Get Note Pad database in android

I want to get the Notes in the database of Note Pad application in android, so I have the package name which is com.example.android.notepad and the data directory which is /data/data/com.example.android.notepad. However, when I try to list all files inside this folder to get the database file I have access denied so I don't know how to proceed. Thanks’ for help.
