Learning Xamarin

So I want to learn Xamarin, and since I'm learning about recommender systems at school, I want to create an app (android since I don't want to pay for the Apple Developer Program), that recommends new movies, games etc based on what the user rates other movies etc. Only for me, for learning purpose only. However, I couldn't find any good tutorials for working with xamarin and databases. Do you guys have any suggestion? I was thinking about sqlite. So do you guys know any good tutorials I could follow? The tutorial doesn't need to be related to recommender systems, just how I can set up a database and make it work with Xamarin.
