I've got an SQLite (2.8.17) database of about 8GB (I work with genetic data) which I need to migrate to PostgreSQL (9.3.11). I'm on a Linux machine (Ubuntu 14.04). I am very very new to programming so naturally have no idea how to do it.
I've found that I can use pgloader to do this but I don't understand the manual. I've been googling possible solutions for hours now and it's getting on my buns.
Can anyone write a very detailed step-by-step guide how I can migrate my data to PosgreSQL? (Imagine I'm an absolute dunce). I know it's asking a bit much, but honest to blog, I will be eternally grateful.
Thank you!
P.S. I managed to create a username for myself for PostgreSQL and gave myself rights to create databases. After googling I suspect that I need a localhost address and I have no clue what it is. Help!
