Is there any way to work in an android app with SQLite as a remote database online?

I mean i'm developing an android app and im working now on the login. I need to send the user and pass to a remote database in order to save that stuff and make people able to log in the app. Im making this with SQLite now but i need to work with a remote db server. Is there any way to work with a remote SQLite server? Or i need to work with php and mysql?
