Android: backup to Google Drive programmatically like Whatsapp

Google drive allows people to back-up their data on Whatsapp and I am wondering if Google Drive opens the same function to other Android developers.

I would like to back up my sqlite database and upload the images to the drive. If the users use a new device, they would download the sqlite and images from the drive.

I am new to the Google Drive API and it will be great if there are some libraries for the backup. Many thanks!
