Checking data format in R using sqlite3 command

I am a new user of R and sqlite.. I would like to know how to check the data format For example I have myexample.csv file in the data base and I would like to check if the file has alreay.csv or not( I need .csv files if there is any other format I would like to change it to .csv format)...
